Our effects pedals and their size 08/18/2011
We get sooooo many comments on the size of our pedals. Here are a few thoughts on that "issue". Yes, our pedals are big, they are big chunks of metal and wood and they take up a lot of real estate on your pedal board, we realize this. So why dont we make them smaller? Two reasons: I designed them large because they look more aesthetically pleasing to me and they look more aesthetically pleasing to me. No, that is not a typo, that is the reason. We get emails all the time from people saying they would love to buy the pedals but they are just simply too large for them. The bottom line is, if we change this, we feel we are compromising our personal taste with our product designs. Its a tough call though, I have to say, we have likely lost a lot of sales because of it. My point? Well, we are going to continue with the existing sizes because that's what we dig. Even if it doesn't fit the 'ol pedal board, at least it makes up for it in other ways by slammin' the front end of your amp with a true song of fuzz sandwich. Things have been shakin' up around here at MONOLITH! These past few months have brought on new interests for us around here. We have started this blog to keep you updated on whats happening with us and to share our personal interesting findings. We are planning on adding some new cabinets models within the next month, as well as continue working on a pedal version of the MAGMA! The pedal version of the MAGMA will be in a similar enclosure to that of the TECTONIC Shift. We are limited in size of enclosures because of the PCB size but we have decided to eliminate some of the features which the rackmount includes . As it is now, the rackmount MAGMA includes 3 inputs, 2 master line outs, effects loops for channels A and B, a Direct out and runs on a dual power supply of 15VDC. The pedal version will include only 1 A/B input an out for each channel and 1 master line out. There is no Direct out planned for the pedal version and the supply voltage will be a dual 9VDC. At this point we are only working on a conceptual design for the pedal version, there is nothing built or finalized. In terms of cabinets, we are looking at releasing the ACC 301, 361 and 406 clones! These cabinet designs have been of interest to us for some time and we are ready to begin production on them! We are now offering white or black baffles for our cabs, this option will be placed within the order forms once we get to updating the rest of the site. Stay tuned for more news and further posts of our rants, news and things that interest us outside of MONOLITH! Best Wade |
